Delivering Maui relief aid by road and air
A relief aid provider asked us to help transport emergency shelter kits from North America to the Hawaiian island of Maui, following the devastating wildfires in August 2023. The kits were urgently needed by survivors whose homes had been destroyed, so we sprung into action to expedite the delivery.
Our Solution
Route: California > Maui
Aircraft: Lockheed L-100 Hercules
We needed a specialist cargo aircraft that could fly direct to Maui and land on the island’s short runway.
Our experts sourced a Lockheed L-100 Hercules in California, arranging trucks to transport the shelter kits there by road from Illinois and Texas.
Ground handlers at the airport then loaded the cargo onto the aircraft using a forklift.
More trucks were waiting on arrival in Maui to drive the aid on to where it was needed.
