Rugby team, Paris
During the Covid-19 pandemic in September 2020, Air Charter Service was asked by a tour manager to arrange a return flight to Paris for a professional rugby union team taking part in the Top 14 tournament. The client had initially tried to save money by booking a scheduled flight, but later decided to charter instead after encountering complex airport procedures and ever-changing travel restrictions. Our expert team pulled out all the stops to come up with a cost-effective and flexible solution.
OUR SOLUTION
Route: Paris > Toulouse > Paris
Aircraft: ATR turboprop
The client wanted to fly the team to Paris in the morning and return them following the match, so we needed to find an aircraft that was available for the whole day and could easily accommodate last-minute changes to the match schedule. Our expert broker sourced a budget-friendly ATR turboprop that offered a comfortable seating configuration for the 42 athletes travelling, and managed to negotiate for the cancellation fees to be waived if the match was suddenly scrapped.
THE FINER DETAILS
Personalised Service: We arranged for the rugby club’s branded headrest covers to be fitted for the flight. Due to Covid-19 the flight crew weren’t able to serve food onboard, so instead we ensured that energy-boosting snacks and drinks were waiting on each passenger’s seat.
Unrivalled Knowledge: We advised the client that the runway at their preferred departure airport, Castres, was too short to take off in bad wind and suggested Toulouse as an alternative.
