Top Five Princes’ Private Jets

Princes are constantly jetting to diplomatic missions, state visits, and even flying private to holiday destinations for a little yachting, partying and relaxation time. But these princes do not just fly in any aircraft – they fly in some of the most luxurious aircraft in existence. Want to know more about some of these incredible jets? We’ve listed the top princes’ private jets so you can see how royals fly across the sky in their ultra-exclusive, private flights.

1. Prince Alwaleed bin Talal of Saudi Arabia

For a short time, billionaire Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal-al Saud was the owner of the most extravagant jet money can buy, a colossal Airbus A380. The A380 is the largest passenger airliner on the market, capable of carrying over 600 passengers on a commercial flight. The media claimed the prince planned to outfit the aircraft with an over-the-top interior, featuring 20 staterooms and a marble Turkish hammam, but unfortunately for planespotters, he sold the A380 before it was even delivered. Prince Talal’s private jet collection also includes a Boeing 747-400 with a 14-seater dining room, two bedrooms, and a throne at the centre of the cabin, an Airbus 231 and a Hawker Siddeley 125.

2. Prince Albert II of Monaco

Prince Albert II of Monaco is one of the world’s most high-profile environmentalists. As such, he prefers to take the train whenever possible to keep his carbon emissions low, but of course, the prince can’t always rely on the rails which is why he purchased a Dassault Falcon 7X for long-distance state trips in 2013. The interior, which was designed by Princess Charlene, features seating for eight passengers, two sofa beds, a modern kitchen and an elegant colour palette of cream and dark woods. The aircraft is valued at $47 million.

3. Prince Charles of the United Kingdom

Prince Charles has the UK’s 32nd squadron on call for his world travels. For international flights, he has access to the Prime Minister’s Royal Air Force Voyager A330. The Airbus A330’s maiden flight took place in November 1992 and lasted 5 hours and 15 minutes. At the time it was considered the largest twinjet aircraft to have taken to the skies. Since then, the aircraft has undergone numerous upgrades which have seen it being developed as two separate series of aircraft: the A330ceo and the A330neo. Each of these have their own variations on the classic jet, with seven models available across both of these ranges. In total, over 1,500 A330s have been built, and hundreds more are expected to be delivered to customers in the near future.

4. Prince Mohammad bin Fahd of Saudi Arabia

Prince Mohammad bin Fahd, son of the late King Fahd of Saudi Arabia, owns an over-the-top collection of cars, yachts and other luxury toys. His personal jet, a spectacular Boeing 777, is the crown jewel of his collection. The aircraft was valued at $320 million prior to customisation and is the largest twin jet airliner in the world, with commercial seating for 301 to 451 passengers and a range of up to 17,370 km. Details of its cabin are unknown, but the prince is renowned for his opulent taste.

5. Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed of Dubai

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince of Dubai, has the pleasure of flying in a private Boeing 747-400. This private aircraft isn’t strictly owned by him, but is operated by the Dubai Royal Air Wing and is available for his personal use. The Dubai Royal Air Wing provides services to the royal family, as well as the prime minister and other government officials. This private jet costs between $100 million and $270 million, depending on which specific variation of the aircraft is owned by the Dubai Royal Air Wing. The original 747-400 has a maximum range of 13,492 km and can cruise along at a speed of 933 km/h, making it ideal for the long-distance travel lifestyle of the royals.

Many may not know that Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, is also technically a prince. While some may be wondering what Macron’s royal lineage is, his title is actually a result of a centuries-old agreement that saw French kings, and later presidents, become Co-Princes of Andorra.

He has an aircraft dedicated to his needs in the form of a customised Airbus A320-200, as well as a number of other presidential aircraft. The A320 is designed to suit all the requirements of the leader of France, and includes a command centre, special message encryption, should he need to communicate with the outside world, and a soundproof conference room.
